Kindergarten Part 1

This course is based on the new three part specialist course designed to address the needs of teachers of full day kindergarten classes.

This introductory course will give teachers an overview of the ideal structure for an exemplary full day program. Early years teachers will be given ideas and tools to use with their four and five year old students.

Prerequisites

Prerequisites for Part 1:

  1. Certificate of Qualification:
    Must be a registered member of the Ontario College of Teachers.

  2. Basic Division Qualification:
    Primary Division is required to take the 3 part Kindergarten AQ.

Please Note:

Any exceptions and additional requirements are noted below.

  • Part I courses do not lead to a divisional entry on the Ontario College of Teachers' Certificate of Qualification. See Primary, Junior/Intermediate, and Senior Basic Qualifications.

Recommendations

Successful completion is a final grade of C-

Upon successful completion of the course, a recommendation will be sent to the Ontario College of Teachers.

This session will run for 3 weeks. Your learning will take the form of in-depth online discussions as well as group and individual assignments.

Learners will be expected to engage in approximately 42 hours of learning per week for a total of 125 hours:

  • 100 hours online learning (asynchronous, but facilitator-led and paced into modules)
  • 25 hours assignments and independent study
