Computer Studies Proficiency Test
Who Writes the Test
Candidates wishing to enroll in the Computer Studies - Senior Additional Basic Qualification course may take this test in lieu of 1.0 full university degree credit or the equivalent in the teaching subject (out of 2.0 full university degree credits required).
If you are unsure whether you should be taking this test, email a copy of your official transcript to oise.cpl@utoronto.ca and request that it be assessed for the Computer Studies - Senior Additional Basic Qualification. We will contact you at our earliest convenience to confirm whether you qualify for the course or if you need to take the proficiency test.
Test Format
The computer studies proficiency test is administered online.
Format: 20 multiple choice questions
Time Allotted: 45 minutes
The passing grade for the proficiency test is 75%.
Accessing the Test
If you have registered for the test you will be contacted via email from OISE Continuing and Professional Learning with login and test-taking instructions. You can expect this email between the registration deadline and the first date of the testing period. At the beginning of the test, candidates are required to input personal information in order to proceed, including:
- Candidate's registered email. This will be used as the access token to the test.
- Candidate's first name
- Candidate's last name
- Candidate's OCT number
- Academic honesty declaration

Notes
Successful completion of this test is valid for 3 years from the date you took the test. The Computer Studies - Senior course offering is subject to cancellation each term based on minimum enrollment.
The Computer Studies Proficiency Test runs 2 times per calendar year, approximately one month prior to the registration deadline for the associated course offering.
