PK12-ENGI

English - Intermediate

This course provides the teacher with opportunities to explore a wide variety of current learning, teaching and assessment strategies and to learn and apply the skills to develop an English and Language Arts program that will engage the adolescent learner.

Candidates will examine current theory and practice which helps to support adolescents for the challenges of the English and Language Arts Curriculum in the 21st century.

Prerequisites

1. Certificate of Qualification:
Must be a registered member of the Ontario College of Teachers.

2. Post-Secondary Education:

Must hold an acceptable university degree or equivalent.

3. 2 Full University Degree Credits in the Subject:

Official transcript(s) showing proof of successful completion of a minimum of 2.0 university degree credits or the equivalent in the teaching subject.

Note: some Drama and Creative Writing courses may be accepted, but at least 1.0 credits must be ENGLISH coded.

PLEASE NOTE:

1.0 university degree credits is the equivalent to 1 full year course, or, 2 half-year courses.

Recommendations

Successful completion is a final grade of C-

Upon successful completion of the course, a recommendation will be sent to the Ontario College of Teachers.
