Dr. Karen O’Meara, Community Connected Experiential Learning Consultant at the York Region District School Board

Dr. Karen O’Meara is the Experiential Learning Consultant for the York Region District School Board (YRDSB), where she supports educators in implementing student-centered education through inquiry-based, problem-based, and project-based learning models. Additionally, Karen leads the YRDSB’s Entrepreneurship Program, supporting innovation and creativity across the school system. She is the co-founder of the successful YRDSB/York U Experiential Arts Mentorship Program (EAMP), and her research for her PhD from York University focuses on how mentorship can support student agency and voice within arts-based experiences. Karen holds a degree in Dramatic Arts from Queen’s University, an MBA from the University of Windsor, and a Bachelor of Education and a PhD from York University, bringing over 20 years of experience as a dramatic arts educator to her current role.
