Workplace Communication Skills for Educators: Preparing for My Professional Practice

The Workplace Communication Skills for Educators: Preparing for My Professional Practice course is tailored for internationally trained educators transitioning to workplace contexts in Ontario, Canada, or other English- or French-speaking environments.

Through a balance of synchronous and asynchronous learning, educators will develop communication strategies that foster effective collaboration between stakeholders, including strategic community partners, students, and families. Educators will also develop communication strategies for professional co-working and collaboration with organizational leadership and operational staff, including strategies that cultivate collaborative professional inquiry and advocate for continuous organizational improvement. Educators will also develop communication strategies and techniques for self-promotion, career planning, and networking. Throughout the course, educators will develop a professional learning portfolio made up of transferable assets and job aids, and engage in stakeholder communication simulations, as well as develop an implementation, evaluation, and communication plan for a learning solution relevant to their professional context.
