Visual Arts Part 1

Consider this course if you would like to broaden your knowledge of visual arts education and are searching for innovative strategies that connect an integrated classroom approach.

Explore through collaborative studio experiences the engaging world of the creative process to develop a portfolio of ideas, resources, and exemplars. Design sequential lessons that will reflect student developmental stages, current learning environments and curriculum policies; all while gaining pedagogical confidence. Delivery of this course includes guest artists and an on-line component to further activate the visual arts teacher in you!

Notes

Teachers holding qualifications in technological education are also eligible to take this Three-Session Qualification course.

Prerequisites

Prerequisites for Part 1:

  1. Certificate of Qualification:
    Must be a registered member of the Ontario College of Teachers.

Any exceptions and additional requirements are noted below.

  • Part I courses do not lead to a divisional entry on the Ontario College of Teachers' Certificate of Qualification. See Primary, Junior/Intermediate, and Senior Basic Qualifications.

Recommendations

Successful completion is a final grade of C-

Upon successful completion of the course, a recommendation will be sent to the Ontario College of Teachers.

This session will run for 7 weeks. Your learning will take the form of in-depth online discussions as well as group and individual assignments.

Learners will be expected to engage in approximately 18 hours of learning per week for a total of 125 hours:

  • 100 hours online learning (asynchronous, but facilitator-led and paced into modules)
  • 25 hours assignments and independent study
