Course
PK12-LIBSP
Teacher Librarian Specialist
Teacher Librarian Specialist revolves around the role of the teacher-librarian as an instructional leader and partner in school improvement.
Emphasis is placed on designing and evaluating programs and learning environments that cultivate the collaborative and inquiry-based approach to learning described in Together for Learning: School Libraries and the Emergence of the Learning Commons (OSLA, 2010). We explore the potential of the library program in developing competencies for learning how to learn and metacognition. The course design calls upon participants to assume the teacher-librarian's leadership role in professional learning networks, in supporting learning communities, and facilitating equitable access for a diverse community of learners.
