Science Biology - Senior
This course looks at a variety of teaching and learning strategies that match your educational philosophy against the Grade 11 and 12 Ontario Biology curriculum.
One of the primary goals is to help you develop and deliver curriculum that is meaningful and engaging for your future student learners. Much of the course focuses on the collegial discussion of strategies and collaboration is encouraged through a number of activities such as the design of a unit and development of key concepts. Learn with us at OISE for a stimulating learning session and discover many interesting and engaging ways of teaching and learning.

Prerequisites
Prerequisites:
1. Certificate of Qualification:
Must be a registered member of the Ontario College of Teachers.
2. Post-Secondary Education:
Must hold an acceptable post-secondary degree or equivalent qualifications.
3. 5 Full University Degree Credits in the Subject:
Official transcript(s) showing proof of successful completion of 5.0 university degree credits in Biology.
For the first Science Senior Qualification (Biology, Chemistry or Physics) listed on the Certificate of Qualification, candidates require successful completion of 5.0 university degree credits in the subject. Any subsequent Science Senior Qualification candidates require successful completion of 3.0 university degree credits in the subject.
PLEASE NOTE:
1.0 university degree credits is the equivalent to 1 full year course, or, 2 half-year courses.
Recommendations
Successful completion is a final grade of C-
Upon successful completion of the course, a recommendation will be sent to the Ontario College of Teachers.

This session will run for 7 weeks. Your learning will take the form of in-depth online discussions as well as group and individual assignments.
Learners will be expected to engage in approximately 18 hours of learning per week for a total of 125 hours:
- 100 hours online learning (asynchronous, but facilitator-led and paced into modules)
- 25 hours assignments and independent study
