PQP1.2: Organizational Leadership & Equity
Discover your role in shaping a strategic and inclusive school vision, focusing on leadership, resource allocation, and school-wide organization.
Learn strategies to enhance operational efficiency, ensure fair and equitable decision-making, and foster a collaborative and innovative school culture. Develop leadership skills to set strategic goals, manage resources effectively, and track progress to drive sustainable school improvement.
Engage in discussions, case scenarios, and applied activities that strengthen your leadership capacity in school operations and equity-focused decision-making.
By the end of the course, you will refine your ability to align school-wide policies, resource allocation, and collaboration with institutional goals. You will also continue building your professional resource archive aligned with the Ontario Leadership Framework (OLF).
This course is the second of three leading to PQP Part 1 Qualification.
Learning Outcomes
Candidates who successfully complete the course will have demonstrated the ability to:
- Analyze key research and theories of educational leadership, including Ontario’s leadership frameworks.
- Develop an understanding of diversity, equity, inclusion, identity, power, privilege, oppression, and intersectionality, and critically assess their impact on school leadership and decision-making.
- Define and articulate a personal leadership vision that reflects the interconnected roles of principal, instructional leader, educator, and manager.
- Examine and adapt strategies for collaboration in the design, implementation, and evaluation of key school decisions and policies to build and sustain a strong culture of institutional improvement.
- Identify and integrate reflective, monitoring, and supervisory practices that foster innovation, professional relationships, and capacity building.

Approval from Dr. Karen Acton, Program Coordinator, is required to pursue this pathway. Admission to these courses is separate from the MEd Program and is subject to approval by OISE Continuing and Professional Learning.

Prerequisites
- Successful completion of Course 1: PQP-EL1 is required in order to register for this course.
- Leadership Practicum & Mentor Requirement
- Candidates must submit a Leadership Practicum Proposal by the end of Course 3: PQP-IL3.
- The practicum must be school-based and mentored by an OCT-certified, practicing principal or vice-principal.
- Candidates must secure their own mentor before registering. OISE CPL cannot assist with mentor identification.
PQP1.1: Essential Leadership in Education (Mandatory)
Recommendations
- Successful completion of this course represents Course 2 of 3 towards the Principal's Qualification Program Part 1
- Upon successful completion of Course 3 of 3:
- Qualified candidates will be recommended to the OCT for the PQP Part 1 qualification.
- A Certificate of Completion will be awarded from OISE Continuing & Professional Learning at the University of Toronto.
