International Baccalaureate: Professional Learning & Capstone Project
Apply your learning in a mentored, real-world context.
This final course includes two parts: a professional learning series and a Capstone Project. You'll collaborate with an IB mentor and fellow educators to reflect on your teaching and complete a unit of inquiry in your subject area. If you're actively teaching, you'll implement the unit in your classroom. If not, you'll complete a guided simulation.
Course Format:
- 3 weeks of online course work
- 8 weeks to complete the Capstone Project
- Weekly-paced modules and optional live sessions
- Facilitated by an experienced IB educator and mentor
Capstone Project:
After completing the coursework, you will have 8 weeks to complete your Capstone Project. You'll be matched with a subject-specific IB mentor who will guide and support you throughout the project.
Course Progression:
This is course 4 of 4 in the OISE Certificate in International Education for IB. Courses must be completed in sequence:

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the IB4 course, you will have learned to:
Part 1: Professional Learning
- Engage in three collaborative learning modules
- Reflect on your teaching practices and growth
- Explore digital tools and IB professional communities
- Deepen your understanding of IB authorization and evaluation
Part 2: Capstone Project
- Design and deliver (or simulate) a complete unit of inquiry
- Document planning, implementation, assessment, and reflection
- Work on-on-one with an IB mentor throughout the project

Late Registration:
Late registration beyond this deadline may be available, if space permits. You are advised to register early, as courses sometimes fill up before the posted registration deadline.
Capstone Project:
OISE CPL will source and assign a subject-specific mentor (an experienced teacher-leader in the IB) to work with you. After the course portion of PK12-IB4, you will have approximately 2 months to work with your OISE CPL assigned mentor to complete your Capstone Project.
CAPSTONE PROJECT DUE DATE: April 2, 2026 at 11:59 P.M. Eastern Standard Time
Course Format:
This course will run for 3 weeks (Professional Learning) + 8 weeks (Capstone Project), fully online, in a blend of asynchronous and optional synchronous sessions. The course will be led by a facilitator and paced into modules, where you will complete various tasks, discussions and assignments according to specific deadlines.
