Foundations of Career Guidance and Counselling
Build a strong foundation in guidance and career education.
In this course, you will explore the purpose, goals, and core concepts of guidance and career education (GCE).
Learn how to bring these items into classrooms and across the wider school community, using strategies grounded in research, policy, and professional practice.
The course takes an asset-based, student-centred approach. You will focus on creating inclusive and culturally responsive practices that reflect the identities, strengths, and goals of students and their families. You will also examine how schools, school systems, and community partners work together to support effective GCE programs. By the end of the course, you will be ready to strengthen guidance and career education in your own setting.
Course Format
This course is fully online and asynchronous, with optional synchronous sessions. It will be facilitator-led and paced into modules with specific assignment due dates to support your progress.
Program Progression
This is course 1 of 3 in the Career Guidance & Counselling Certificate. You will receive a digital Certificate of Completion once all three courses have been completed successfully.

Grading: Complete/Incomplete. No numerical or letter grade is assigned.
