Design Inclusive Learning for Diverse Ability

Design practical, context-responsive solutions to advance inclusive education.

Explore advances, gaps, and emerging opportunities across foundational and contemporary perspectives in inclusive education, including the role of Special Education within inclusive systems.

Drawing on research and professional practice, you'll identify ways to strengthen your own context and develop actionable strategies that improve outcomes for all learners. Emphasis is placed on collaboration, working with students, families, school staff, and community partners to enhance inclusive learning environments, programs, and services. Through reflection and applied activities, you will leave this course equipped to implement meaningful, practice-based solutions in your school community.

Course Format

This course is fully online and asynchronous, with optional synchronous sessions. It is facilitator-led and organized into modules with specific assignment due dates.

Program Progression

This is course 2 of 3 in the Inclusive Education: Practice and Leadership Program. You'll receive a digital Certificate of Completion once all courses are successfully completed. 

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • Examine key ideas, trends, and gaps in inclusive education.
  • Strengthen your professional practice to better support equitable and accessible learning.
  • Create a clear vision for inclusive teaching and learning in your context.
  • Design strategies that engage students in inclusive learning and support their needs.
  • Partner with families and community members to enhance inclusive programs and services.
  • Collaborate with school staff to plan and improve inclusive practices.
  • Apply inclusive education principles to develop practical, context-specific solutions. 

Notes

You will need a computer, headphones/speakers, a microphone, and a reliable internet connection.

Grades: Complete/Incomplete. No numerical or letter grade is assigned.

Pre-Requisites: Each course builds upon the last. We recommend completing the courses in the following order:

  • Lead Inclusive Change in the School Community
