(Course 2) Organizational Leadership: Developing and Implementing a Shared School Vision

Explore the important role you'll play in leading your school/organization's vision and mission, with a focus on operations, resource allocation and organization.

Learn strategies for improving the efficiency and equity of schooling, including goal setting, resource management, progress tracking and measurement, as well as influencing the motivations and capacity of your teachers and school/organization staff. Through discussions and case scenarios, and by adding to your portfolio and personal resource archive, you’ll develop skills and expertise that will enable you to build and implement a sustainable and effective school leadership model.

Learning Outcomes

Learners who successfully complete the course will have demonstrated the ability to:

  • Explore current research and theories of educational leadership (e.g., Ontario Leadership Framework for Principals and Vice-Principals).
  • Develop an understanding of diversity, equity, inclusion, identity, power, privilege, oppression, intersectionality, anti-racism and recognize their impact on school leadership.
  • Explore, identify, and articulate a personal leadership vision/style as principal-leader-educator-manager.
  • Examine and adapt strategies to support collaboration in the design and implementation of key school decisions and policies to build and maintain a strong culture of organizational improvement.
  • Identify reflective, monitoring, and supervisory practices that foster innovation, professional relationships, and capacity building.

Notes

The course requires access to a computer, camera, headphones/speakers, microphone and highspeed internet to access the OISE course environment, and other websites and resources as required.
