Anatomy of the 21st Century Educator: An Open Online Framework for Ontario's Post-Secondary Educators
We have developed many programs focused on designing and developing online or technology-enabled learning, but what about the specific knowledge and skills associated with content creation, resource acquisition, the facilitation of learning experiences, and the design of effective online assessments?
Please join us as we discuss an open framework for Ontario's Post Secondary Educators.
Subject Matter Expert: Valerie Lopes, PhD Professor in the School of Arts and Science at Seneca College & Assistant Professor in the Department of Leadership, Higher and Adult Education at OISE/University of Toronto
Valerie Lopes is re-imagining the construct of post-secondary education-the skills, knowledge, and attributes required to enable and enhance learning, in all its formats. She is an advocate for the use of open education resources and technology tools when designing learning experiences grounded in the context of the environments of the learners.
She constantly asks herself "How am I impacting learning? And, How do I know?"
With extensive experience in leading projects, program development and evaluation, she has worked on curriculum design and faculty development projects in Central Asia, Tanzania, Columbia, Mozambique, China, Italy, and Kenya. At Seneca, she champions the introduction of new learning technologies and promotes ongoing campus-wide conversations about current and relevant curricula and flexible learning environments. She has been an invited speaker and presenter at conferences locally, nationally and internationally, and has received several Awards for her work.
