OISE Continuing & Professional Learning

Welcome to OISE Continuing and Professional Learning
Elisabeth Rees-Johnstone PhotoOn behalf of the University of Toronto, OISE and OISE Continuing & Professional Learning, it is my pleasure to welcome you. We are delighted that you have stopped by to explore who we are.

In my role with OISE, I have the pleasure of collaborating with colleagues from around the world and from various backgrounds in education. I say various backgrounds because regardless of formal job title, I believe every one of us is an educator, with professional and personal accountability to engage and enable learning. And a learning mindset is required

now more than any other time in our collective history.

Over the past half-century, there has been much discussion about knowledge-based economies where a country’s long term prosperity, health and wealth, is dependent on the collective skills and capabilities of its citizens. Today, our long-term prosperity is dependent on the learning capabilities and capacity of our global citizens. If we are going to enable the success and prosperity of next generations, then we must be prepared to learn.

Within this context, it is a dynamic and exciting time in our field of education.
Given our global learning environment, our goal here at OISE Continuing and Professional Learning is to engage the world’s educators and empower one another to create environments where learning thrives.

As the professional development arm of Canada’s leading centre for graduate studies in education – the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) at the University of Toronto, we keep this goal top of mind as we support and prepare education professionals in Canada and around the world to navigate and thrive within the transitions of their own learning journeys as education practitioners, leaders and agents of change.

Thank you for your interest in OISE as you explore the next steps in your professional learning journey. We’re delighted that the work we do inspires education professionals and leaders around the world, and we are looking forward to working and learning with you.

Warm regards,
