This year, the recipient of OISE CPL’s Award of Excellence is Heather Friesen. Heather is an exceptional Course Facilitator in our ‘Certificate in International Education for IB’ program, and a generous collaborator with our International and Innovation Custom Solutions team. Given her high level of IB subject matter expertise, she also holds the title of Program Coordinator for our International Education for IB program, serving as a resource to other facilitators as well as the OISE CPL administration in ensuring the certificate courses within our program meet the quality standards of both OISE CPL and the IB Organization. Heather was also instrumental in the creation and initial launch of the International Education for IB certificate program at OISE.
She embodies professional excellence in her teaching to our learners, in her mentorship of other mentors in our IB program, and as a colleague to our administration team.
Heather has a reputation for professional generosity, not only in how she liaises with learners and with the CPL administration team, but also in identifying and referring collaborators so that we can strengthen in our delivery of the IB program at OISE CPL and provide options and opportunities for our learners.
From Facilitating learning in the OISE CPL classroom for future IB teachers,
- to facilitating the ‘Certificate in International Education for IB’ program for a closed cohort in China
- to collaborating with great enthusiasm on a year-long program with us, focused on IB School Transitions leading cooperative inquiry among a professional learning community at the University of Southeastern Norway
- or representing the CPL International Education for IB programme in her presentation at a top Education conference in China (with very short turn around!),
Her deep commitment to mentoring the leadership and practice of others, with great passion and authenticity, has been evident throughout her time with CPL. On behalf of all of us at OISE CPL, thank you Heather, for all you contribute to the continuous improvement culture of our OISE CPL community.
